Welcome to Matlock Meadows Ice Cream Parlour, Coffee shop and Dairy Farm.
Welcome to Matlock Meadows Ice Cream Parlour, coffee shop and working dairy farm. Visit our brand new, purpose built Ice Cream Parlour, which is tucked away in the heart of the Derbyshire Dales countryside. You can sit in the Ice Cream Parlour and enjoy our real dairy ice cream freshly made on the farm, using the milk from our own cows, which you may see grazing in the nearby fields. Our ice cream is all hand made using the freshest locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and is available in a range of delicious flavours. It’s a great place for all the family to visit and taste our ice cream, ice cream sundaes, fruit sorbets, cakes and drinks. We also serve freshly made fair trade teas, coffees and a range of hot and cold snacks.
Visitors to Matlock Meadows can expect a warm welcome from the staff as well as our lovable pets Pinky our micro pig and Minty, Saucy, Sheila & Jakey our lambs. From the ice cream parlour visitors can also see the nearby cows, calves, chickens and rabbits.
Within the ice cream parlour we have a selection of giftware and toys including Tractor Ted books and DVD’s; local handmade crafts eg purses, bags, jewellery and home wares; local produce - eggs, honey, flour; also selling a selection of locally produced meats (sausages, burgers, ham, black pudding and bacon) from Coates butchers at Two Dales, and cheeses from the Hartington Cheese shop.
Matlock meadows are able to accommodate school/group visits, farm tours, meetings and childrens birthday party packages – please email, ring or pop in for further details.
Our Ice Cream Parlour/coffee shop is a new farm diversification project and is located within our real working dairy farm. Our facilities include an outside play area, indoor viewing gallery with disabled access to see the animal housing and milking parlour, a classroom/meeting room, childrens party room, pedal tractors (small fee applies), toilets with baby changing and disabled facilities, free on site parking. Patrons of the coffee shop/ice cream parlour are welcome to use the facilities and access to the animals free of charge however as we rely on the income generated from the coffee shop sales we only allow food and drink purchased on the premises to be consumed on site.
FARM SAFETY – we are a real working dairy farm so we politely ask parents to supervise their children at all times. Hand hygiene is very important on open farms due to the risk of e-coli therefore we pride ourselves on having good handwashing facilities - it is essential that visitors wash their hands after touching any animals or the animal housing, after changing footwear and before entering the coffee shop – also please note that hand gels are ineffective against the spread of e-coli, thorough handwashing with warm water and soap are the most effective.
